Meet Smalls, international man of mystery. Smalls was rescued from a shelter and not a lot is known about him. He is a 4 year old neutered male with a laid back personality. We aren’t sure how he feels about cats, but he is calm around other dogs and people. If you are looking for a companion to “Netflix and Chill” Smalls is up to the task. Just look at those movie star eyes!

Max is very friendly and loves people and other dogs. We are not sure how he is around cats. Max is neutered, chipped and ready to start his next adventure. Some roads are longer than others, and Chuto’s road has definitely had some twists and turns. He hasn’t let the hard times dim his sweet personality or dull his outlook on people though. Chuto was removed from a neglectful situation. He came into rescue emaciated and with a case of demodectic mange, a juvenile form of mange which occurs when a puppy’s immune system does not kick in on time. (This does not re occur and is under control at this point.) He is still a little on the slender side but is gaining weight well and is up to 125 lbs (from 98lbs at intake). Chuto is a very charming boy who enjoys being fussed over and loved on. A playful goofball, Chuto loves tug of war, hopping and playing and going for walks. He is great on a leash but not a fan of getting caught in the rain…no word on how he feels about Pina coladas.
Chuto still has some recovering to do, however, you can see from the pictures below that he has come a long way. His eyes will need to be evaluated when he is further along to see if he will require surgery for ectropion.
If you need a loving playful companion in your life please consider Chuto.
Haley is a bright energetic “Golden Girl “looking for her Dorothy/Rose/Blanche or Sophia. Haley was surrendered by her heartbroken family when they lost their home and could no longer care for her. She has lived with other Mastiffs and while she likes other dogs prefers that they not get in her face. She is calm around cats and children and overall very friendly. Her foster family reports that like many Mastiff girls she loves her creature comforts and is not above stealing your chair or your spot on the sofa. Haley loves to ride in the car and be the copilot.
The pictures don’t even do her justice. If you are interested in finding out more about Haley please visit our facebook page to see a video of Haley in action. If you also enjoy car rides and lounging with periods of play thrown in here and there please consider Haley for your new family member.
Boa is a brand new arrival at SSMR. He was surrendered in NC by his owner due to the owner not having enough time to dedicate to him. Boa has lived a somewhat solitary life so far and will need slow introductions to new experiences until he gains a higher comfort level with the world around him. Boa is initially a little shy but will quickly warm up and be more social with people.
His favorite game is “tag” and he likes to chase and be chased by his human. Boa has been calm with the dogs he met in the shelter and may be more social with them once he is in a less stressful environment. Boa is a handsome guy who has mastered the skill of winning over humans and drooling on his own head. If you have a little patience and time for a new EMBFF please consider adopting Boa. He would probably do best in a home with no small children because he tends to greet them enthusiastically and may accidentally knock one over.
